What is permanent player tracking?

Players change their names — smurfs hide, pros rebrand, friends disappear. Every League of Legends account has a PUUID: a permanent identifier that never changes, no matter how many times the player renames or even transfers region. Whenever anyone looks up an account on lols.gg, we record the Riot ID it was using at that moment. Over time that builds a permanent, dated name history for each account.

Look a player up once and bookmark their tracker page (the URL with their PUUID) — from then on you can always find them, whatever they're called. We've been recording names this way for years, across more than a hundred thousand accounts.

What can I search with?

A Riot ID (name#tag), a bare name, or a PUUID. If nobody currently uses the name you searched, we'll show you every account in our records that used it in the past — and what each of them is called now.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see a LoL player's past names?

Search their current Riot ID (name#tag) above — the tracker shows every past name we've recorded for that account, with dates. It works in reverse too: search an old name to find out who holds it now and which accounts used it before.

Is there a summoner name history for every player?

We permanently archive names for hundreds of thousands of accounts and add more every day: any account that is looked up here or appears on our leaderboards is tracked from that moment forever. Riot's own API only shows the current name — the history is ours and never gets deleted.

Why isn't a player's old name showing?

History starts the first time an account is seen by lols.gg. If nobody ever looked the account up (and it never appeared on our leaderboards), its earlier names weren't recorded — but from your first lookup onwards, every future change will be.

Does tracking survive region transfers?

Yes. The PUUID stays the same across region transfers, so a tracked account stays tracked wherever it moves.

What is this useful for?

Tournament identity verification, keeping tabs on smurfs and duo partners, checking who used to own a name you want, or just finding a friend who renamed and vanished from your search.
